Finished the Reze Arc movie and need to know what happens next? Good news: you don't have to wait for the next anime project. Here is exactly where the movie stops in the manga, which volume to buy, and whether you should go back to Chapter 1.
Anime to Manga Reading Order
| Season / Movie | Episodes | Manga Chapters | Volumes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chainsaw Man Season 1 (2022) | Episodes 1–12 | Chapters 1–38 | Volumes 1–5 |
| Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc | Film | Chapters 39–52 | Volumes 5–6 |
| International Assassins arc (manga only so far) | — | Chapters 53–70 | Volumes 7–8 |
| Rest of Part 1 (Public Safety saga) | — | Chapters 71–97 | Volumes 9–11 |
Quick tip: Volume 7 starts exactly at Chapter 53, so you can begin a fresh book with no overlap.
Which Volume Should You Buy?
- Next volume: Chainsaw Man, Vol. 7 starts at Chapter 53, right after the movie's ending, and opens the International Assassins arc.
- Then: Chainsaw Man, Vol. 8 finishes that arc (Chapters 62–70).
- Binge option: the Chainsaw Man Box Set collects Volumes 1–11, the whole of Part 1. It is the best pick if you also want to read Season 1 and the Reze arc in Fujimoto's original art.
Should You Start From Chapter 1 Instead?
Our pick: if you only want the story to continue, jump straight to Chapter 53. The anime and movie follow the manga's events closely, so you won't be lost.
- Start at Chapter 53 if you just want to know what happens after Reze.
- Start from Chapter 1 if you want Tatsuki Fujimoto's original panels and pacing, which hit differently on the page — or if you plan to buy the box set anyway.

Is There More Chainsaw Man Anime Coming?
An anime adaptation of the International Assassins arc has been announced, with MAPPA returning to animate it. The format (TV season or film) and release date had not been confirmed when we wrote this. Until then, the manga is the only way to see what happens next.
